# Buy now, pay later planner: every payment on one calendar

Several pay-later plans at once are easy to lose track of. Add each purchase, and see every instalment by date, the total due each week and month, and a warning when payments pile up in the same week.

## How the planner works

Each plan follows its generic shape: **pay in 4** splits the price into four payments, the first on the purchase date and then every 14 days; **pay in 3** takes three monthly payments on the purchase date’s day of the month, or the month’s last day when it is shorter (a 31 January purchase pays on 28 or 29 February); **pay in 30** takes the whole amount 30 days later. Odd cents go on the first payment so the parts add up exactly. Your own plan’s dates may differ: its terms win.

The planner flags two plans due on the same day or in the same week (Monday to Sunday), and any week over your budget. It does no interest or APR maths, and late fees are whatever you type in from your plan’s terms. The .ics file adds each payment as a calendar event with a reminder the day before.

## The rules in 2026

**UK:** the FCA started regulating deferred payment credit, often called buy now pay later, on 15 July 2026. For agreements made since then with a lender separate from the shop, lenders must check you can afford to repay, give key information first (including late fees), contact you about missed payments and help if you are struggling, and you can take complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Agreements made before 15 July 2026 stay unregulated.

**US:** the CFPB withdrew its 2024 interpretive rule that treated many BNPL lenders as card issuers, with effect from 12 May 2025.

## Questions

**Is buy now, pay later regulated in the UK?**

Yes, since 15 July 2026, for interest-free plans of 12 or fewer instalments over 12 months or less from a lender separate from the shop. Older agreements are not covered.

**Does this planner work out interest?**

No. These plan types are interest-free if paid on time, and late fees differ by provider, so you enter your own plan’s fee.

**Is my plan saved?**

Yes, in this browser’s local storage only. Nothing is sent anywhere, and Clear all deletes it.
