Price watchlist: track prices before you buy

Add what you are waiting to buy and the price you would pay, then log the price whenever you look. You will see the lowest price so far, whether your target is hit, and on sale day the checker can test the deal against your own log.

How the watchlist works

The best defence against a fake “was” price is your own record of what something cost. Start a few weeks before Black Friday: add an item, set the most you would happily pay, and log the price each time you check, with the date.

Your list is saved in this browser’s local storage, on this device only. Export a CSV file (columns item, target, date, price) to keep a copy or move it to another browser, and import it there. Importing adds to the list; an item with the same name gains the extra prices.

Questions

Does the watchlist check prices automatically?

No. It makes no network requests at all: you type the prices you see, so it works for any shop and nothing about your shopping leaves your device.

How often should I log a price?

Every few days is enough. Try to have at least three prices in the 90 days before a sale, and one in the last 30, so the checker can give a verdict.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

The list is deleted with it. Export a CSV now and then if you want a backup.
